Facelift & Neck Lift Houston
What is a facelift?
A facelift is also known as Rhytidectomy. As we age, the facial skin will start to sag and become loose. The procedure gives the appearance of looking refreshed and rejuvenated and can take years off of your appearance. At the same time, it can add volume to your skin while improving facial contour and reducing wrinkles. Dr. Payne uses innovative techniques that minimize and conceal scarring, bring youthful fullness back to your face and tighten the skin. His attention to detail, drive for perfection and his extensive experience in craniofacial surgery, makes him the surgeon you would want operating on your most important feature, your face.
What to expect during a facelift surgery?
A facelift is performed under general anesthesia, after which patients are allowed to go home. There are cases when the patient may have to stay in the hospital overnight.
Dr. Payne will delicately make an incision in the natural creases in front and behind the ear. Then he will stretch and reposition the skin and address the muscle so that this procedure will last. Any excess tissue is also removed before tiny sutures are applied to close the incisions.
The incisions are usually made around the hairline, front and back of the ears, and under the chin. A full facelift includes a brow lift, eyelid surgery, a forehead lift and a neck lift.
What to expect after a facelift sugery:
The recovery time varies for facelifts though it usually lasts about 1-2 weeks. You will wear a face wrap/bandage daily to reduce swelling. You will need to be seen the following day after surgery to remove any drains and change dressings if needed. Sutures are removed by the first week. There is bruising and swelling after the procedure. The time for these to subside is a case-by-case basis. On average, however, the bruising goes away after three weeks and the swelling takes two to four weeks.
Patients can usually return to normal activity within 7-10 days. The best results from the surgery are usually noticeable by week eight. You can expect your result to be a natural and refreshed appearance.
