Breast Enhancement is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures performed in the United States. Breast Enhancement is often achieved using one of three methods. Most people are familiar with the breast implant method, of which there are two options: Saline Implants or Silicone Implants. Saline breast implants are filled with a saline solution. Silicone breast implants are filled with a silicone gel that some find to be more natural in terms of the way it both looks and feels.
In addition to breast implants, another option is fat grafting. Fat grafting takes fat from another area of the patient’s body, most often the flanks or the abdomen, and re-inserts it into the breasts for a natural enhancement. The benefits of fat grafting are that it can remove stubborn fat in one area where it is unwanted and add volume to the area where you want extra. It is also appealing to some people that the enhancement is done with their own fat rather than a object foreign to the body. The cons to fat grafting are that the fat is less predictable to work with and the fat can be reabsorbed, making it less permanent than implants.
