The rhinoplasty procedure, also known as a nose surgery or nose job, is a cosmetic surgery procedure performed to alter and improve the size, shape, width and even the function of the nose. Many people are unhappy with the appearance of their nose due to bumps, indentations, the overall proportion of the nose or nostrils, crookedness, or the width of the nose. Rhinoplasty can correct many of these aesthetic concerns. Additionally, those with structural issues inside the nose that make it difficult for air to flow easily through the nose, may benefit from nose surgery to correct the structural defects seen in common nose issues such as a deviated septum.
Rhinoplasty is performed use either a closed or open approach–meaning the incisions are made either inside of the nose or outside of the nose, depending on each patient’s needs and goals. Recovery from rhinoplasty typically takes about five days to week. Some swelling and bruising is to be expected as you heal.
